Ideal school:
1-
Environment:
The environment should be a bright
and spacious environment where children give free rein to their imagination,
which I will discuss later. Surrounded by greenery to learn the importance of
the environment and even more so considering our current context on climate
change. We must sensitize children the make a proper use of recycling and
environmental care. My ideal school would be surrounded by huge trees but safe,
very controlled vegetation and plenty of grass, is the color of hope and also
children love to drop, and roll over hills or lie on them. This type of space
provides a peace and quiet child that allows them to function in a fun and to
forget some of the stress of school.
2-
Structure:
I´d love a circular structure in
which children safely and always under surveillance can run and jump without
any problems that cause them injury or such problems. This type of structure
gives a sense of spaciousness and freedom. Within this, it is divided into
different parts or pavilions, where different types of intelligence would be
worked, for example music block or gear block, and so on.
There are not architectural barriers
in an ideal school. All children have the right to study and learn. No one, by
having a physical or mental problem, can remove that right that belongs to them,
it would be provided with the necessary measures and teaching staff, prepared
and delivered to help these people.
The school would also be divided into
a part for relaxation and another for studies, all this being very colorful because
as children, colors are one of the things that most appeal to them. Colors can
be a great tool because they are closely related to the mood of the students.
3-
Children:
Children are the protagonists of
schools, in this place, which its main objective is to carry out a project, the
project of education, and as we know in each school varies this project,
nevertheless in this primary school, the project is to learn as much that can
be in any field either artistic, athletic, mathematical etc. no matter which
one.
Regarding the same, the number of
children who are for each classroom would be better sharing the space and the
number of children is taken into account, since it is well known that the more
children that are in a class, the harder it is to pay attention to all at once.
20 children maximum per class and will be divided according to age. Children
gain skills such as: individual evolutionary development, solving problems by
themselves and group tolerance with different ethnic groups being in contact by
groups, and to be able to share what they have learned.
4-
Assessment:
As I am growing up I remember that always
by getting a bad grade on a test (with some another lecturer or teacher),
thought the note that would have been able to have with another. Children must
have a critical spirit and fight for what they really believe.
Regarding the note, children decide
with teachers the note they deserve reaching an agreement and explaining
logically arguments which will be taken into account by the same teacher, so
develop some other skills.
But there won’t be just one a
teacher, it will be two and they decide together to note, not correct the exam,
because at this school exams don’t exist. It is useless to keep something in
memory for a certain time and release or throw up in a piece of paper and then
not remember anything at all.
5-
Teachers:
Teachers are those with good training
that accompany students from the beginning to the end of primary education, but
this can become a double-edged sword, this means that no one is perfect and not
everyone always fall into grace to some people, that is why homework, tests,
works done jointly, would be evaluated with another teacher to have a more
objective opinion is correct.
Teachers will be some guides on
children's learning, not forgetting the children who need more help, confidence
will be encouraged in order to being able to perform, it is very important to
delegate obligations in students because it may pay more attention to those that
need the teacher more, not being afraid that others won´t do the homework or
appointed work. In the same way, encourage group work through cooperative
learning with the types of base teams, experts etc and different techniques.
Teachers will be able to teach children to solve problems without giving them
the answer.
Teachers with school management team,
are those who choose the best subjects that can make children develop a good
shape.
Through regular meetings, it will be
given special attention so that each teacher does a hard, critical and
objective follow to each child in order to deliver good value individual
judgments, being able to detect problems or design activities according to what
remedy is going to be applied.
Teachers, all together with parents, would
act as counselors through the counseling program. The school’s counselors challenge
children from diverse backgrounds to dream and provide them with strategies to
reach those dreams, they guide students toward effective career choices and
help them choose the appropriate courses that will enable them to pursue those choices, setting reasonable goals.
6-
Culture:
There will be a student council,
which they met and treat different decisions being taken by the delegates.
In the ideal school, a perfect
environment for culture is one that is made by and for children of different
cultures. Multiculturalism, writings, posters of different languages. That is,
instructional materials, textbooks or learning materials represent different
backgrounds and experiences of different cultures and cultural views. And they
are exempt from the various prejudices that marginalize the experiences of
people of color, second-language minorities, women, an low- income individuals.
Multiculturalism is very present in
schools around the world, today the world is changing and with it the education
as well, we are in constant movement in which we all travel abroad. With multiculturalism
increasing, differences and mixtures are increasingly growing up, other species
will be born by the contact. We must
make children aware of this fact, that we are all equal regardless of race,
origin, sex, age, economy. This school will be provided with materials from
other countries and children know the importance of other cultures.
7-
Values:
Development of attitudes,
multiculturalism, tolerance, slogans.
8-
Time table:
Respect the time of breaks and
following the German system of 90 minutes of class and 30 or 45 break.
Kids are sponges, but also human, not
robots which endure hours sitting listening quiet, they are minds who need to rest
and recreation, so teachers should teach subjects dynamically by groups with
practical examples and so on. Children can learn in a more appropriate manner.
In short, they will have fewer hours of theory and more practice with breaks
compensated.
There will be extra-curricular
activities outside school hours.
9- Methodology
There will be a formative assessment, which is
based on monitoring the child about their jobs, attitudes, not summative, as
most children only conceive of test scores as the sole method for evaluation.
Unknowingly, they not even perceive it is a mistake, they know that is not good
because they do not like exams. The ability that children have to remember what
they have studied is not going to be measured, but rather the opposite, the
quality, which is never lost and can be explained. In certain cases where
children are not applied properly, it is a big mistake, because, either for
family reasons, or as a foreign matter, those children who make poor grades are
denigrated. So a diagnostic education at first and then formative will be
conducted, leaving aside summative, which clearly is not effective.
Imagination will be a great
attraction, because, what makes us different if not our ability to be
different, to have our own personality. Imagination would be given as a
crosscutting content, which would work in all areas and subjects that is,
ultimately, what enriches a child.
10- Theory:
Different types of theories (social
constructivism, constructivism, and behaviorism).
11- Limits /essential needs:
The dining room, transportation and
health care are essential services in any school or center that boasts quality.
12- Contents:
Practice rather than theory, current
quality content for the different intelligences. With far fewer duties it will
be able to go to see the child's environment and make a diagnosis of the
problems that can appear. The content would be divided into subjects, to a
better divide of the information at the level of general culture, which would
be the ones we know as: maths, language, science, physical education, arts,
music and I would add some of dancing, ethic, or poetry and theater.
Throughout these subjects
children get a general culture, a culture that is lost in the secondary and
should be as important as in the primary. If this were possible, it would not be
required in secondary schools, because nowadays it is divided into blocks of
specialization in an specific area, (scientific, philosophical, historical) but
everything would be a set, where any student can study the subjects they want,
without having to do specifically each type or if you want to do something
related to arts, go to another institution for example.
13- Parents:
There will be family day, parents
should have an involvement with children and collaboration with teachers,
because they are not only teachers who teach in the classroom, parents and
teachers have a goal and a commitment in common, is that the child or girl in
question develop the necessary skills to be someone out in this our society
skills. Parents should know the performance of the children knowing what to pay
more attention in, knowing what their kids want, need or require.
14- Objetives:
The objectives are very diverse but
mostly what is sought is that elementary students get a rich and varied
learning that allows them to be sufficiently prepared for secondary education, being
responsible and honest, behaving in society and being happy learning.
